Ynys-hir 13th May 2007

Adult male siskin on feeder

Wednesday, 30 May 2007

On our way to Ynys-hir RSPB reserve we stopped at the red kite watch point at Nant yr Arion where we we were rewarded with a brief sighting of a red kite and the unexpected bonus of crossbills near the visitor centre. We also saw goosander, siskin, nuthatch and both types of martin. At Ynys-hir the weather deteriorated such that it rained for most of the time we were there. However, we still managed to see a good selection of birds including wood, sedge and reed warblers, tree pipit, stonechat plus, at the end of the day, a solitary whimbrel.
