Asian vultures face extinction in the wild within a decade without urgent action to eliminate the livestock drug that has caused their catastrophic decline, scientists are warning. Their decline has been quicker than that of any other wild bird, including the dodo.

The RSPB in Sierra Leone

The RSPB has had links with conservation colleagues in Sierra Leone for over 15 years. We have assisted the Conservation Society of Sierra Leone (CSSL) and the Government identifying, monitoring and conserving the country's rich wildlife, especially in the biologically diverse Gola forests.

Saker falcons and imperial eagles in Bulgaria's mountains

Human activities have nearly wiped out saker falcons and imperial eagles from Bulgaria. The RSPB, with its sister organisation the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, is fighting to save them - with the help of the BBC Saving Planet Earth fund.
