Project updatesOperation Tree Sparrow – bed and breakfast for birds In 2004 the RSPB launched Operation Tree Sparrow in the north west of England. This popular and colourful farmland bird declined in the UK by 93% between 1970 and 2006. On 22 June, 15 eagle chicks were flown in from Norway to RAF Kinloss, Moray, to start a new phase of reintroduction of (white-tailed) sea eagles to Scotland. 'Pastures for Plovers' is a three-year initiative operating in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which covers parts of County Durham, Northumberland and Cumbria. |
